Amazing Almodovar Monument by architecture Enproyecto

The play is set in the hometown of the filmmaker, Calzada de Calatrava, in the heart of La Mancha deeper.

The approach of the contest provided a memorial that would link the birthplace of Pedro Almodovar with his film work, marked by the constant presence of references to culture and landscape of La Mancha. So the main idea of ​​the project relied on to pay tribute to the very Mancha, framing, as if it were a fragment of one of his films, a “frame” of the landscape. The skyline is sequestered within the piece and part of it. The staggered forms are inspired by the focus of a film camera, which in turn resolves the accessibility and use of the monument as a meeting point, gazebo or scenario concert and awards.

The park is located where a small mound, allowing the piece to have a major role in presiding over the landscape and the town’s entrance from the road. The red color is a nod to Almodóvar himself, who identifies himself with this color. The walls of the sculpture are printed with a texture reminiscent of the scenes of his films.

The piece is constructed with a type of self-compacting concrete colored developed by CEMEX allowed to be transported across the dosed mixture from the factory, needing only moisturize and knead on a work by a transportable silo. This allowed making a very specific concrete in very remote place where there was no possibility of getting concretes. Being able to do the exact dosages allowed a perfect homogeneity in the color of the different tiers, thus avoiding potential errors in dosing of additives and colorants.

Self-compacting concrete was chosen for the ability to reproduce faithfully and textures for ease of placement, given the density of armor that has the gate strong. The fact of not needing to avoid segregation of vibrated concrete.

The textures were made by placing himself phenolic formwork panels of expanded polystyrene reliefs, also getting different textures and scoring more effectively shapes.
