Holiday home in the Pacific

PLUS house in Japan from Mount Fuji Architects Studio. This holiday home is situated on the southern slope of Mount Izu-San overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

The untouched wilderness of steep slopes covered with deciduous trees (birch, cherry, and Japanese oak), severely restricts the possibilities and to some extent, imposing preferences. The authors did not want any fight with the terrain and scenery, or to design complex architecture that limits the freedom in this extreme topography. The result is a clear, simple lines – the architecture is completely independent and, at the same time, it seems that this form is found here and simply removed from the natural chaos. This, according to the authors, “an abstraction of nature.”

Two white box intersect at right angles, forming a cross, one axis is directed south into the Pacific Ocean, and another in the forest, the white birches and oaks. White marble was used for decoration, creating a continuous play of light and colors – blue and green from the south west.
