House of James & Mau Manifesto to Infiniski In 90 days, pretty and echo
Bioclimatic design, recycling, reuse, reduction of construction materials, building systems and materials clean, renewable energy use … All these concepts converge in the House Manifesto, designed by the architectural firm James & Mau built by Infiniski.
The architectural design of the Manifesto House, located in Chile, is a work of architecture and design study of James & Mau, with offices in Spain, Chile and Colombia. The leading Spanish architect Jaime Gaztelu and Colombian Mauricio Galeano. Both are founders and chief architects of the buildings ecological construction company Infiniski, who executed the work. Their motto: “is not about climate change. It’s because I’ve never been able to leave leftovers on my plate. ”
The structure housing the three shipping containers are reused, combined with other materials such as bottles, timber, steel and recycled aluminum, among others. Its construction system operates on a modular, prefabricated in workshop, which can limit transport costs and pollution on site. This system suggests the complete realization of the house, possible extensions, integrating fast and consistent, if the customer space requirements will change over time.
In this case, the result is a house of 160 m2 divided into two floors inside. The first floor is occupied by a large common area including lounge, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and terraces. The master bedroom with bathroom, living room, two bedrooms with a shared bathroom and terraces form the agenda of the second floor habitable.
Its location, atop a hill dominating the landscape permeability generates a east-west axis. Through a large glass area, the sensation to be in the most social of the house is to be under a large bridge in the middle of nowhere. Favors enjoy special environment where the sunrise or sunset becomes an entire game experience.
The house is distributed around this common space with volumes much more closed in the north-south axis. At the same time and intent, the construction system of the house is covered with skin, playing through its horizontal elements, generates a wealth of light and shade that helps to dematerialize volumes. The house, with its materials, it becomes a living architectural object.
The shape of the house responds to a bioclimatic design that adapts to the impact of the climatic elements of the place. Thus, the housing “be seen” in summer “undress” in winter with solar skin transventilada both façades and roofs. To achieve this we used two types of skin: one based on fixed horizontal wooden slats and a mobile pallets, which can be opened individually to control solar radiation. This leather cover is a lightweight mesh “slip-” according to the season. It serves also as ingenious aesthetic finish that helps to integrate it into its rural surroundings.
The inner enclosure is made of recycled cellulose insulation projected onto the inside of the container veneer panels and finished with organic cellulose fiber and gypsum. With these elements of passive thermal insulation, and the incorporation of alternative energy technologies (solar thermal panels), the house achieves 70% energy independence.
