KFC Fast Food Restaurant by PK Architects
Generally, fast food outlets are not places where the architecture plays a very unique spaces are generally standardized with the same look which remains well under the business identity and is related primarily to the place where it is located . In the town of Keflavik, Iceland, developed a project that marked distinctions with respect to this type of architecture in fast food.
This building is a dark game of volumes are displayed horizontally on the flat surrounding landscape. The central body extends vertically through two volumes also stand to each side, one configures access to customers from the parking lots. The outer coating is a metal plate opaque, while the west side is almost entirely glazed opening up the view from the inside to the street and the sea swell.
The interior has worked with exposed concrete and an interesting game with natural light from the volumes that reach higher altitudes. Details on the finishes and furnishings are in greater dialogue with billboards and commercial aesthetic through color and synthetic materials.
